I am very often asked how you differentiate and stand out in a flooded market when it comes to your business.
Good news is that there are many ways you can do this, both online and offline. For the sake of this article, I’ll just focus on Social Media.
Please note; if you’re not a big fan of Social Media, there are many options beyond areas outlined below. x
When it comes to Social Media, you really need to be on at least 2 platforms. Firstly ask yourself where your target audience is most likely to be hanging out. Then start there. We need to work out how to make you stand out….without yelling….tailored to you, your business & your audience.
Below are 5 tips to help your Business stand out on Social Media ::
1. Be You
Define yourself and your brand. This can be helped by knowing your elevator pitch. Once you have this, ensure your Social Media Bio reflects this message, and your content too.
A goal from social media is to gain interaction and have your content shared. The great aspect of social media is that you can create, and others can share.
Make sure you’re using the right hashtags, as this is how so many people will find you too. I usually use 11 hashtags per post and a range of hashtags including local, community and specific descriptions I know my audience is searching to find someone like me (Business Coach and Branding Expert).
2. Interact with Others
I would hope you’re well and truly sorted with a fabulous website and branding. If not, check out my other business, Sticky Studio.
Your aim is to create a relationship on social media, then nurture your following onto your website and other platforms. Wherever you’re leading your audience, your brand needs to reflect and represent your business.
Moving back to social media; it’s important to interact with your audience ~ both on your platform and theirs.
Striking up conversations with key influencers will also help you become connected too. You are who you surround yourself with; it’s true in Business & Marketing as well as Life.
3. Focus on a Niche
I know you’ve heard this a thousand times before, however it’s important.
Finding your niche helps you become an expert in your field. The great element is that it’s you who determines where you want to be & where you want customers to find you.
Note :: some clients I tell not to niche down to start with, it depends on your business… Sorry for being slightly confusing - however in some cases being broad for the first 6 months can help the business gain traction.
4. Frequency + Consistency
Keep your message and your tone consistent. Know your business objectives, then convey them on your platforms.
When you do this, you’ll notice a shift in the connection with your audience.
5. Quality Content
The content you share is extremely important - of course!
When you use social media to connect with your customers on a real & personal level, a connection and understanding is created. Between Business posts, it’s fine to include a sprinkle of content from your lifestyle eg: beach, sunset, holiday, everyday life.
You can show as much or as little of your personal life as you choose. Just make sure it aligns with your message so you don’t go off on a tangent.
