Tips to increase traffic to your website

Increasing traffic to your website is a hurdle many people face. The fact is, you don't need to spend money in SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to make this happen. 

Starting out 6 years ago, I invested $12,000 on SEO. I was told by my Web Agency this was the best  method to gain clicks through to my site.

There are so many complexities within this topic which I won't go into here - however, as a top line, you don't need to invest your cash in SEO. There is also a DIY SEO checklist to help you with this, which can be found on my homepage.

Below are some additional tips to help drive traffic to your website!


Create compelling headlines you know will entice and resonate with your audience.

5x as many people read headlines compared to body copy. It's up to you to change this stat for your business.

Be Social

Use your Social Media channels to show your audience what's going on over at your website.

Moving your audience from your social channels to your site helps to build trust and rapport.

Social Channels I use on a daily basis include: LinkedIn, Google+, Facebook, Instagram & Twitter. Other channels I use include Pinterest, Periscope and Snapchat


Through providing links within your site, you can lead your audience onto a variety of other useful content. This is key for providing an enhanced user experience, and therefore your visitor is more likely to return.

Internal linking also helps with SEO.


You've heard it before, and yes, it's correct. Email Marketing is your business lifeline.

All businesses should email their list once per month, and more regularly if you have information that will assist or interest your tribe. I send my newsletter fortnightly and ensure it's tailored my subscribers interests.

It's also important your newsletters release VIP information which links through to your website.

Publish engaging content & interviews with Industry thought-leaders.

Create a Community

Creating a space which gives your audience a place to speak passionately, ask for advice and also give their point of view is fabulous for creating a buzz. You can then use this platform to migrate your community over to your site.

I've done this through creating a hashtag #mindfulbiz. I began this on Instagram and have now created it into a sub-brand resulting in: 

The possibilities are endless for creating a community.

Quality Content

Create quality content which is useful, helpful and entertaining.

A variety of executions makes this appealing and also allows you to pop up in front of your audience in a range of places e.g.: blog article, online course, workshop, ebook, Instagram, Newsletter, You Tube, LinkedIn, Speaking opportunity, Magazine, Webinars.....

All your content should then drive the traffic to your website where your audience can explore further information.

 Beyond the tips listed above, there are many other ways to drive traffic your way.
Rather than tackling too many methods at once, focus on some of the points above to gain traction. It's best to become an expert in an area of conversion, then gradually add another elements when you're ready.  
Over time, you can start to layer your marketing and build on other areas, giving you a solid foundation and Marketing support strategy.
