As soon as you step inside this relaxed restaurant, you're tastefully immersed in all things British; from the British Band posters hanging on the walls and the bowler hats repurposed as lampshades, to the booths resembling the British railway line.
The modern British menu is delicious - with something for everyone!
The creators of Downstairs have found that delicate balance between traditional and modern British cuisine. Dishes include Scallops, Kedgeree Croquettes and Bombay Hazelnuts ($16) followed by the Pork tenderloin, crumbed belly honey glazed chicory, pear, fennel and celery salad ($27).
And if you still have room, take your pick from Peach Melba, Banoffee or Lemon Tart (all $12) or the selection of cheeses.
Downstairs also offer a superb Sunday roast good enough to make you forget you’re in Australia. I'm definitely going to take my family along one Sunday during these school holidays. The perfect family treat without it costing a fortune!
